BSNL Ignores Warnings of Massive Database Vulnerability

A prominent whitehat hacker has contacted Tech2.com with details of a massive potential security breach of BSNL’s corporate network, which the public-sector telecom giant has so far failed to respond to. Our contact, who doesn’t want to be named, tells us that his emails to every publicly available contact address, including full details and screenshots, have been ignored for well over a month. It’s only a matter of time before someone with malicious intent takes advantage of the hole, he adds.

Toshiba Rolls out Android 4.0 for 10 Inch Thrive tablet

The Toshiba Thrive tablet features a 10.1 inch display, an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, and a few features you won’t find on many other Android tablets including a removable battery and full-sized USB and HDMI ports.

Toshiba discontinued the Thrive this year to make room for newer, thinner, and faster tablets. But the company is starting to roll out an over-the-air software update for anyone that has last year’s model.

While the tablet originally shipped with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the software update brings Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich to the Thrive.

Toshiba says the update also improves audio, video, and camera performance as well as better wireless signal strength.

Google’s Self-Driving Cars Complete 300K Miles Without Accident

Google’s self-driving car project is probably one of the most audacious experiments the company has embarked upon. Today, Google announced another milestone for this project: its fleet of about a dozen autonomous cars has now driven 300,000 miles without a single accident under computer control. While this is obviously very positive news for the project, Google warns that “there’s still a long road ahead.” The cars still need to learn how to handle snow-covered roads, for example, and how to interpret temporary construction signs and other situations that could throw its systems for a loop.

It’s not clear how many of these 300,000 miles were driven on Google’s secret racecourse, by the way.
