MTNL Launches Tablet Plan for Rs. 800, Offers 10 GB 3G Data for 60 Days


In an endeavor to provide affordable and dedicated 3G Data service over Tablet Devices like Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Micromax Fun Book, and all other low cost Tablets available in the market, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) today announced the launch of Special Tablet Data Plan SIM Kit for Prepaid customers in Delhi circle for Rs. 800.

MTNL 3G Data plan SIM Kit for Tablet PCs will be available for Rs. 800, offers 3G Data usage up to 10 GB valid for 60 Days (2 months) from the date of recharge or activation plus 20 minutes free Voice and Video calls. The data of 10 GB will be given through special Tablet Plan SIM Kit only and no STV will be issued.

BSNL To Provide Satellite Phone Connectivity To 37000 Villages Which are Yet to be Connected With Mobile Services

India’s National Telecom back bone Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is ready to provide connectivity to uncovered 37000 villages through Digital Satellite Phone Terminal (DSPT) technology and the technically feasible villages are expected to be provided with VPT facility by 31st March, 2013.

The progress and the changes in telecom have been astronomical, with new and cheaper wireless and mobile technologies taking birth almost each year. With an addition of approx 18 million subscribers every month and contributing to nearly 2% of the Indian GDP, Indian telecom industry is considered to be the largest telecom markets of the world.

But still about 37,000 villages in India are yet to be connected with mobile connectivity as per the analysis carried out by CDOT (Centre for Development of Telematics) and nun of private operator much interested to expand their telecom/mobile services in remote and rural or commercially not profitable areas.

Idea launches cloud-based 3G dongle at Rs. 1,799


Idea Cellular has launched a new 'cloud-based' 3G dongle in India. According to Idea's official statement, the new 3G dongle offers Internet access, storage up to 2GB on the cloud, and Cloud Messenger - a cloud-based messenger service allowing free and unlimited communication between cloud users.

Government Withdraws BAN on Sulk SMSes and MMSes

Government on Thursday lifted the ban on bulk SMSs and MMSs with immediate effect -- a day before the earlier stipulated deadline of August 31.

The telecom ministry had, on direction of home ministry, imposed the ban for 15 days on August 17. Later, the restriction was reviewed on August 24 when the telecom ministry increased the limit from five SMSes to 20 SMSes.

"After reviewing the matter again on Thursday, the ministry lifted the restriction allowing citizens to use text messages and MMSes without any limit of numbers with immediate effect," said a home ministry official.

As MPs cutting across party lines had pitched for a foolproof mechanism to check spread of rumours that led to exodus of people from the northeast in certain states, the government on August 17 had imposed the ban on bulk SMSs and MMSs for 15 days across the country.

My airtel app will allow Airtel customers across various services (mobile, fixed line, dth etc) to check their outstanding bills, recharge their accounts, make payment, activate deactivate any service; raise requests-complaints, at just a click of a button across.

Further, using this, Airtel digital TV customers can also order movies and games, without any assistance from the customer care. Customers can download the application by simply logging into airtel.in/myairtel or visiting their device app store. Alternatively, they can also SMS ‘myairtel’ to 54321.

Vodafone Blue -The Facebook Phone Now for Rs. 2100

Leading Mobile service provider, Vodafone India has reduced the price of its flagship Vodafone Blue – the Facebook phone from Rs. 3795 to Rs. 2100.

Vodafone Blue handset was launched in India on September 6th, 2011 for Rs. 4950 with bundled offer of Unlimited free access to Facebook for one year, later price were reduced to Rs. 3795 (without Facebook offer). No Mobile Connection For More than 3 Months to Foreigners : Govt Of India

Concern for the security issues and check misuse of prepaid and postpaid SIM cards or mobile connections in country, Government of India’s Department of Telecom (DoT) has asked Telecom / Mobile Service Providers Not to provide any mobile connection/ SIM Cards for more than three months to any foreign tourist visiting India.

According to latest guidelines on “New prepaid and postpaid mobile connections”, which came into effect immediately DoT has told to all mobile service providers that the proof for issuance of a postpaid and prepaid mobile connection to any foreigner would be the passport having a valid visa and validity of mobile connection should not be beyond the visa period and also not exceeding 3 months at the time even if the validity of Visa is beyond 3 months.

The new guideline also classified that for ‘Address Proof’ of a foreigner, the address of the local reference which may also be that of the tour operator shall be taken and in case there is no local reference, the address of stay shall be taken.

Airtel directed to pay Rs.6,000 to subscriber for not activating SIM

Airtel has been asked by a consumer forum to pay a sum of Rs.6,000 to one of its subscribers for having failed to activate her SIM card, despite charging her for it. In her affidavit that which she submitted to the East District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, complainant Asha Sharma stated that she paid Rs.1,000 to Airtel to avail of the operator's services. Airtel, however, as per the affidavit, did not activate Sharma's mobile connection, despite repeated requests.

Reports further quote the forum President N A Zaidi as saying that Sharma claims that she had issued a cheque of Rs.1,000 to Airtel, who did not activate the connection. Zaidi adds that Sharma has not provided the forum with any evidence to the effect that the cheque was encashed. In the affidavit, however, Sharma claims that the cheque has been encashed by Airtel and the SIM card had not been activated, Zaidi added further.

MTNL begins Home Delivery of telecom connections

State-run MTNL's mobile, landline and broadband connections can be availed by just sending an SMS or communicating online, a top company official said. "Under single window service, we have started providing mobile connections, landline and broadband at the doorstep of customers. They just need to send an SMS or communicate us online about their need. This is first of its kind service in country," MTNL Executive Director A K Bhargava said.

The company has operations in Delhi and Mumbai only.
