HCL Infosystems Ltd., India’s Premier hardware, services and ICT Systems Integration and Distribution Company has signed a contract with The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on August 7, 2012. As per the contract HCL Infosystems Ltd. has been awarded the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to implement and manage the Central ID Repository (CIDR) for UIDAI. The contract is for a period of seven years.
The entire end-to-end technology infrastructure of the UIDAI will be managed by HCL Infosystems as the designated Managed Services Provider (MSP). As the MSP, HCL Infosystems will be responsible for procurement and installation of the IT infrastructure, implementation of information security management systems and operations support and maintenance. The scope of work also includes technical helpdesk, support services and database administration.
Elaborating on the signing of the contract, Shri B.B.Nanawati, DDG (Technology), UIDAI said, “We are happy to partner with HCL Infosystems Ltd. which is a long standing and prestigious Indian IT company. With the award of the MSP contract to HCL Infosystems Limited, UIDAI looks forward to maximize efficiency and to bring to fruition the goal of providing a unique identification number to every Indian”.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. APS Bedi, EVP, HCL Infosystems Ltd. said, “It is a proud moment for us to associate ourselves with the biggest ever IT Managed Services project of its kind. As the MSP for the project we are committed to meet and deliver our defined scope of work which broadly covers the implementation and the management of the Central ID Repository for UIDAI.
