According to our exclusive sources, Govt of India’s today revised SMS Bans and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) sends new revised directive to all mobile service providers over SMS Ban to increased the limit of 5 SMS per day per SIM to 20 SMS per day per SIM for all mobile subscribers with immediate effect.
The Govt of India banned bulk SMSes and MMSes or more than 5 SMS per day for a period of 15 days starting Aug 17 in the wake of a hate campaign targeting people from the northeast as earlier we shared on TelecomTalk.
According to GSM operators association – COAI, “Restriction on SMS to five per day is not only causing problems for millions of mobile phone users but may also lead to loss of 7-8 per cent revenue of telecom operators for the month.
MTNL is going to implement the 20 SMS per day per SIM from 5 SMS limit by today for its subscribers in Mumbai and Delhi.
